Scott Peterson is the Founder and Director of Defending Your Doorstep Ministries, a Christian outreach ministry devoted to training Christians how to defend their faith in general and specifically against the claims of Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons. "The average Christian shares their faith with a non-Christian about once a year," Scott noted. "It's the goal of the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society and the Mormon Church to have our homes visited twice a year by their missionaries. Since they travel in pairs, that means that in any given year there could be as many as 4 lost people knocking on a Christians front door! That is a mission field that we need to reach!"

Scott was raised a Christian, but his well-intended desire to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with a pair of Jehovah's Witnesses that came to his home in 1994 led to a series of spiritual battles that left him questioning his faith and in a desperate state of spiritual confusion. Scott began to shed his lifelong indoctrination, determined to build his faith from the ground-up. "I wanted to know who God really was," Scott recalls "regardless if it meant I had to become a Jehovah's Witness, Mormon, Muslim, Hindu or whatever. I realized it didn't make any sense to worship God in a way He did not want to be worshipped, or even worse - to ignore who God really is just because it was 'what I was taught'. We all should want the truth - regardless of what the truth is."

Through this quest, God led Scott to realize that his faith in the God of the Bible was, in fact a true saving faith. From that point on, Scott became determined to help Christians defend their faith with those that would come to their homes and also to teach them to share the true gospel of Jesus Christ in a way the Jehovah's Witness and Mormon could understand.

Scott has as been involved in counter-cult ministries and apologetics since 1995 and has been a guest speaker at churches, seminaries and on the radio. Scott is concluding his Masters Degree in Theology with a specialization in apologetics at Michigan Theological Seminary.
