Defending Your Doorstep Ministries

Reaching Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons with the true gospel of Jesus Christ

Date

11/20/06 I was told by a minister after I accepted Jesus Christ as my savior that now any sin I did from now on would be forgiven and that good works and deeds did not count toward salvation. Somthing is wrong there, and made me think of Isaiah 5:20 "Wo unto them that call evil good, and good evil." Who in all the universe would like you to believe that good works and deeds have no value in your salvation and that our evil deeds will not detract from it? (David)
  Hmmm, David.  Your email is a bit suspicious since the email address you included was not a valid address.  Regardless, what you appear to be struggling with is the Christian teaching that we are saved by grace by trusting in Jesus Christ's sacrifice for our sins:

Ephesians 2:8-9 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

Now, one will naturally question James' contention that "faith without works is dead". (James 2:17).  So what we really want to know is what are the works that God requires.  Fortunately for us, Jesus was asked that very question:

John 6:28-29 28 Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?" 29 Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent."

So we need to "believe" (the Greek word indicates a belief like the belief you have in the chair your sitting in) in Christ - period, dot, bingo (free program of your choice for the first person who knows what "period dot bingo" means).

Anyway back to your minister - he's right!  And as far as Isaiah 5:20 goes, unless he was telling you that sinning was good and that doing good was sinning, then the verse does not apply.

11/8/06 I just started reading your website (love the JW test, BTW) and stumbled upon the page of complaints from ignorant people.  You did a wonderful job of defending your position and honest attempts to enlighten the public.
I was raised one of Jehovah's Witnesses and only in the last 4 or 5 years (I am 30) have I really 'dug deep' to disprove what I was taught.

I get very angry when I look back and see all the destruction that organization (it can't be considered a religion) has caused in the name of God.  So, it is both refreshing and exciting to see a group, such as yours, dedicated to telling the truth about Jehovah's Witnesses.  You do have an advantage, not having been one of JW's, as more people will listen to you.  My stand has been noted by my immediate family, so there is no possibility of speaking of the truth, about 'the truth', to my mother.
I will continue reading, but just wanted to stop, for a moment, and compliment...CC
                         Thanks, CC.  We appreciate your kind words.

Came across your site by accident and read through all of it.  (now, now, Cherub, we have technology that tells us how many pages you actually went through - 4 pages of 37 does not constitute going through "all of it").  Found it interesting.  Saw through your sham.  Your site like sooooo many others are out there to make a buck.     Shameful, but true.  Ooooh, buy our book so we can show you what you need to know.  Pleeeez!!!  If a person really wants to know what the truth is about God and faithfully asks then they won't need your help now will they.  There we go - the Mormon answer to everything - pray and ask God about the truth.  According to that logic, there is no need for Scripture at all - except for ONE VERSE that would say, "Just faithfully pray and God will tell you what is right or wrong.".  Fortunately, God does not work that way - He has already spoken.  We don't pray whether or not we can commit murder, do we?  No - because God has already spoken about that.  Likewise, God has already spoken about the doctrine Mormons have decided to change - that's the real problem. Now, if your upset that our unpaid, all-volunteer staff has to charge money for products that cost money to print, then...well...we're sorry.  With as many free programs as we do give away, we can't afford to "feed" the whole world by ourselves.

9/19/06

I wanted to thank you for your site.  I recently had a conversation with a young man about history.  He got me off on a biblical tangent by saying he was a biblical history buff.   When I told him he was "deeper" than me he offered me a great study guide.  My "uh-oh" sensor should have gone off at this point.  He started showing me the pamphlet and I saw the word Jehovah.  I looked at him and said, "Oh no, you are a JW!!!"   (just kidding) When I tried to explain why I thought the teachings were false, all I could come up with was the tribes of Isreal totaling 144,000 and the JW's have more members than that and who would be left out? I knew I needed to investigate further so I could pull him away from the false teachings he is so diligently getting into.  Thanks for the truth! {Cindy}
    Happy to be of service to you by the grace of God.  Let us know if we can help further.

7/26/06 I was brought  up in the jehovah witness religion... i still belief the truths i was taught. You people are hyocrites! On the front of your web page your selling books for money to go to you!  In your pocket! (That's not a sentence - it's a prepositional phrase ) Maybe you should try going to a real church with meaning and you could understand what you speak of! Are you any better? (Than who?)  do you know the meaning of why they preach from door to door? Not to sell lies such as your books?    Is this a question?  Research is a wonderful thing?   Is this a question?  try it?    Thank you! {Rebecca}
    Rebecca,

Before you call us names and make presumptions about us, would you be willing to look at our program for FREE?  I was willing to evaluate the JW's lessons and what they had to say, are you willing to look at our research?
  Not a chance! {Rebecca}

Hahahahaha!
We figured as much!  You challenge everyone else to do "research" ... but when they do, you are afraid of the results!  Did you know that our WHOLE program is based on Watchtower Publications?  There is not a single former JW on our staff (so you don't have to worry about it being "apostate" material).

No one should be afraid of the truth - and we should be willing to forsake EVERYTHING for the truth of Jehovah.  The offer still stands.  If you come to the point where you are more concerned about your relationship with God than with the Jehovah's Witnesses, let us know and I'll personally buy your copy of our program and send it to you for free (see, we don't wave a magic wand to produce these programs , things cost money so we have to charge people to pay for those things).  Incidentally, before you curse us for charging money, check out www.bookbind.net and ask the JW's why THEY are "selling books for money to go to you!  In your pocket!".
  When you walk in to something with closed eyes, you see only what you want! Sound familiar? Actually, no.  How do you see anything with your eyes closed? Why would someone that already knows in there heart,  that your info is of a  unsound heart!  Sorry, that's not a sentence either Why would I waste time!   Now see, that was a complete sentence but it was also a question.  You needed a  there.  Also the witnesses do not sell anything! www.bookbind.net Small contributions are asked if people have it to spare,  to remake new publications! Not to buy there homes and cars such as hmmmm, lets think!    Most true religious believers also do not throw rocks with there words!  Such as, it looks like you like too! Maybe you should read a bible again!

Rebecca,

Please read what you wrote.  You don't know anything about our information because you are afraid to look at it.  Yet you make all of these false claims about it.  I went into my study with JW's with an open mind...but I didn't just accept what was said, I actually looked into it.
 This is my favorite quote from you:  "When you walk in to something with closed eyes, you see only what you want!"  THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE DOING!    DOH!  (Assuming you meant a closed MIND)  But you actually won't go quite that far - you WON'T EVEN LOOK at the material!

Witnesses do too sell study aids:  www.bookbind.net

Incidentally, we are an ALL VOLUNTEER, UNPAID staff.  NO ONE here gets a paycheck - including me .Far different from those JW's in Bethel in New York.

Again, if you decide to think about putting your faith in Jesus Christ instead of the Watchtower, let me know - the program is yours for free.

6/9/06 I am a non denominational Christian , however I am in close fellow ship with several Jehova's Witnesses.  First off your little quizes are 50% fabrication and the other half is twisted misdirection If that is true, why haven't you responded to our repeated emails asking you which question & answer you doubt? To this day I would recomend a bible study(Which are free) with Jehovas Witnesses to any one seeking knowledge on christianity and the Bible.  (Here's a thought, if you want to know about Christianity, ask a Christian, and if you want to know about the Bible, read it!   Second JW's teach free of charge, even congregation leaders are volunteers.  You wont see them on the internet trying to sling programs for money, unless you go to www.bookbind.net .  Did Jesus charge for the sermon on the mount?? Oh no thats right he fed everybody instead.  :)  Does that mean JW's are feeding everyone too?  The thing is, Jesus, as God, had the power to create something from nothing - we don't.  We have to pay for our stuff.  And as an all-volunteer, unpaid staff, we just can't afford to pay for everyone else to have our materials.  Every body else commenting has already mentioned what I would say( you know the ones you make fun of for there   (irony) typos).  Stop being Nieve in thinking one religion has all the answers.  If there is any group that does live up to Bible principals it is Jehova's Witnesses.
    One would HAVE to wonder if you were truly a "non-denominational Christian" why you were not a JW if you truly believe that Jehovah's Witnesses are the one group that "live up to Bible principals (sic)".  The easy answer is that you obviously ARE a JW.

We're still waiting for you to respond to our emails telling us EXACTLY WHAT on our quiz is fabricated or twisted...

6/7/06 why did you attack other churchs??? please are you really christian???? is what JESUS CHRIST teach you to do.. live other people alone and  work in your personal life... be a real chistian {Mia}
    Mia, we couldn't call ourselves Christians if we just let people wallow in lies.  Jesus spent a big part of His ministry correcting the false teachings of other religious groups.  The Apostles did the same thing!

I would assume that you have written to the Watchtower B&TS and the Mormon church to do the same...after all they are attacking Christian doctrines and are not leaving Christians alone...

5/25/06 How can you claim to of a Christian faith and yet you have sites like this to disclaim others beliefs? Well, MM, Christianity is exactly about reaching the lost...which is what YOU try to do everyday.  It's pretty hard to reach the lost when they don't think they are lost to begin with. Then have all those scriptural references too? Just wanted to say see the truth and it all begins with a prayer ...God Bless =) {"A Mormon Missionary"} Those last two sentences just sum it all up perfectly, don't they?  Christians want you to turn to the Scriptures just like the Apostles and Early Christians did (Acts 17:2, 17:10, 17:17, 18:4, 18:9) while Mormons want you to pray for a spiritual testimony as to whether or not Mormonism is true - something completely UNSUPPORTED by the Scriptures (don't cite James 1:5 - that is for WISDOM to endure trials, not general knowledge as to whether doctrine is right or wrong).  Boy, am I glad you wrote, you've illustrated our point perfectly.

5/22/06 I just want to say that I am in awe of your ministry.  My dad is a preacher (yes, I was raised Baptist, and for the person that said Baptists do not go "door-to-door" witnessing...think again!)  I am now in a pentecostal church and my entire family is on FIRE for God!  BUT, with all this said, I had a "knock" at the door today that has led me to research information to understand clearly what the JW's believe.  I have asked my dad to clarify this, and the first thing he said was, "Ask them about the Trinity."  Now I understand, through your website, why that would make them stop and TRY to argue, or probably leave.  I just want to say to anyone who is a JW or Mormon, please read Sharon's testimony.  WOW...that is powerful!  Thank you for much useful information on your website, and I pray that your ministry will reach those who do not know the truth. {Marla}
    Thank you for your encouragement, Marla - we appreciate it greatly - your prayers for the lost are even MORE important.  We want to encourage you to take additional steps in trying to reach the lost with the TRUE Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Let us know how we can help!

4/28/06 You can print these comments (doubt you will) but not my email address.  Wow, what veiled "reverse psychology"...Ed, believe us, we wouldn't pass up the opportunity to show how the Mormon mind works.

I checked out your site to see what it was about but couldn't get beyond the first two paragraphs (giving the premise of the site).

I figured that if you get that wrong, what can be expected with the rest of the site.

Yes, missionaries of Jehovah's Witnesses and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have some things in common--they travel two-by-two and are usually dressed nicely--but that is pretty much where the line is drawn. Their doctrines are different. Their approaches are different. To associate the two as similar or the same (especially that they are both cults) is to further mystify the truth about either, which is the opposite of what this site purports to do.
Well, Ed, we associate them because they are pretty much the only groups going door-to-door to Christian's homes, and GIVEN (not "giving") the "premise of the site" as presented by our name, "Defending Your Doorstep", they are similar.  They both also claim the Christian church fell into apostasy after the disciples and both also had leaders claiming God was using them to restore the "truth"...far from merely traveling in pairs and wearing nice clothes...wouldn't you say?

 For the full dance-version of Ed's long email, please click here...

4/10/06 You have no idea what you are talking about (how about TRYING the program first...?) The only thing I am going to do for you is to pray for you and hopefully you will one day accept the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints {Andrew}
    Who exactly are you going to pray to?  Joseph Smith's two-person godhead (Lectures on Faith, pp. 55, 57) ?  Brigham's God, Adam (Journal of Discourses Volume 1, p. 50)?  Maybe Hinckley's God he doesn't know...(Time Magazine, August 4, 1997) ?

3/12/06 I am neither a mormon or a JW but I must say your website only makes me want to learn more about this relgions. It is almost as if you fear  what they teach and you have to prove your relgion. Thanks for the info I will inevestigatre these relgions now. You should just focus on the good of your relgion and not worry about others.--- {Jen}
    Great Jen!  We want EVERYONE to look into these two religions!  Let us know if we can send you some information to give you an objective view - not just the view they want you to see.

2/25/06 this page is a big lie you should be suied fore  this i myself am not a JW but i no its the truth just give it a chance it could save your life and the ones you love. {Josh}
    Josh, we GAVE it a chance - a FAIR chance.  That is to say, we put it to the Biblical test and it failed.  The Watchtower has made false prophecy after false prophecy and made errors when they claimed to speak for God.  It is simply anything BUT the "TRUTH".

2/23/06 This is for Scott. I contacted you once before.  After which you sent my husband James a packet for JW free of charge. He was saved shortly after that and has been on fire for GOD since. I e-mailed you before to thank you and I wanted to give you an update on how GOD has been moving in our life. And also how the Holy SPIRIT used you to help. We are going to be moving to Nicaragua in the next 6 months to be missionaries. Our church sponsors an orphanage down there and GOD has called us to go there to spread the gospel and to impart the kingdom of GOD. I want you to know that your organization is an inspiration and it is encouraging to know other people who are obedient and whose sole purpose is to bring glory to GOD by showing HIS love and compassion. I pray that we all continously burn with passion for the lost as HE does. After all it is HIS kindness and mercy that leads us to repentance. (Amen and amen!) You stress the importance of being motivated by love and love only and I want you to know I thank GOD for you and those who labor with you for the sake of the gospel. I will keep you all in my prayers. May GOD bless you and keep you and continue to use you mightly to reach the lost. Thank you {Leslie}
    PRAISE BE TO GOD, FATHER, SON and SPIRIT for His unbelievable love and mercy!  What a magnificent God who would go to such lengths to reach His lost child!  Your kind words are appreciated even more because you realize that GOD was responsible for James' salvation.  It's an unbelievable honor that God let us into you lives - we are praying for your mission and God's continued provision in yours and James' spiritual lives.  Praise God!!!  We love it!

Now get down to Nicaragua and give 'em Heaven!!

2/20/06 Good Service {Frank}

Thank you.

IT SEEMS YOUR WEBSITE'S GOAL IS TO SOLELY BLAST RELIGIONS THAT YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND OR NECESSARILY AGREE WITH. JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES DO NOT TELL THEIR CHILDREN LIES ABOUT FAIRIES , EASTER BUNNIES, SANTA CLAUS. INSTEAD THEY DRAW THEIR INSTRUCTION FROM THE BIBLE. JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES DO NOT CELEBRATE BIRTHDAYS BECAUSE THERE ARE ONLY TWO BIRTHDAY PARTIES MENTIONED IN THE BIBLE. (YOUR BIBLE AND MINE) (no - neither Bible, yours NOR mine.  Job's children celebrated their birthdays and there were GREAT celebrations surrounding the births of John the Baptist and Jesus) BOTH ENDED IN MURDER AND GOD NEVER INSTRUCTED PEOPLE TO CELEBRATE BIRTHDAYS. IT SEEMS THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE DECIDED TO TWIST THE BIBLES WORDS AND MAKE IT FIT INTO WHAT IS CONVENIENT FOR THEM ("Hello, Pot?  Yes, this is Kettle, you're black!!!"). WITNESSES DO NOT GO DOOR TO DOOR TO ANNOY THOSE WHO SIT AT HOME. INSTEAD THEY TRY TO SPREAD THE WORD OF GOD.  (Hey!  Us too!) SOMETHING THAT I HAVE YET TO SEE MANY OTHERS DO. THE BIBLE INSTRUCTS US TO SPREAD THE WORD OF GOD WITH A FULL AND OPEN HEART. MANY PEOPLE HAVE ALSO MISINTERPRETED JESUS AS BEING GOD HIMSELF, WHEN THE BIBLE CLEARLY STATES THAT HE IS THE SON OF GOD (and the Bible clearly states that He is by nature, God.  Incidentally, where does the Bible "clearly state" that Jesus is Michael the Archangel?). WE STRIVE TO BE CHRIST-LIKE, BECAUSE HE WAS THE ONLY PERFECT HUMAN THAT WALKED THE EARTH (BESIDES ADAM AND EVE, AND WE SHOULD BOTH AGREE THAT ENDED QUICKLY). WE SHOULD DRAW ALL OF OUR ACTIONS FROM HIM. FROM OUR SPEECH TO THE ACTIONS THAT EFFECT OTHERS. PLEASE OPEN YOUR HEART AND YOUR MIND. EVEN IF YOU DO NOT BELIEVE IN WHAT WITNESSES SAY, BLASTING AND DISRESPECTING THEM WITH HALF TRUTHS IS CERTAINLY NOT CHRIST LIKE.
    We neither "blast" nor "disrespect" Jehovah's Witnesses - if you are going to make such a claim, please provide examples.  We simply use the FULL-TRUTH to compare doctrine.  What exactly is wrong with that?  That is exactly what Christ did...

2/7/06 My word this is a brilliant site. Anyone who is led by the true spirit of God should heed the advise (and the "advice" too) given here. The best thing about it was the Visa and Mastercard symbols at the bottom. A nice touch indeed. Talk about a truly spiritual experience and life saving site. (Phil)

With all due respect, Phil, you didn't really THINK your criticism through, did you?  I mean, what is the problem you have with us?  It can't be that what we say is not true - because you don't know.  Your problem is that things cost money to produce and you apparently think WE should pay for the education of the entire world.

I'll tell you what, Phil, if you are interested, our UNPAID, ALL-VOLUNTEER staff will chip-in to buy you the program of your choice, and if you find something UNTRUE in it then we'll close our doors and give the rest of our inventory away - how's that?  Let us know what you want and where you want it sent.

Until then, if you happen to find someone who will publish books and CD's for FREE, let us know - we'd love to offer our material for the same price!

1/4/06 I took your "Mormon Quiz" and after looking at the answers you gave i was amazed at how someone could pervert  or out and out lie about someone else's belief's and then trash that pervesion/lie. LIKE WHAT?  EACH ANSWER IS SUPPORTED BY ITS REFERENCE.  Please cite a specific if you are going to call someone a liar.  If a person wasnt sure as to your organization's credibility i find it humorous how you lie and slander tweo organizations who want nothing except to bring a litte bit of Love Christ taught so long ago and after you slander those groups you offer to sell a person something to protect themsleves against them (we don't understand that sentence). Truely one judges a tree by the fruit that it bares. {Aaron}

Exactly what on the "Mormon Quiz" do you think is not true?  If you find something that is not true, we'll shut down the website - fair enough?

My guess is that you're just frustrated that someone has actually looked at what the Mormon church has said and done from the beginning and found that they are not what they claim to be.  You're right inasmuch as you judge the tree (or prophet) by its fruit - and in this case the Mormon fruit is poisonous (filled with false prophecies and blasphemy).

Funny how your anger is directed at the people who uncover the truth instead of those who perpetuate the lies.
